Community privacy notice
What we store for community accounts and why.
What we store
- Email address and password: used to sign in and to send account emails such as confirmation and password reset. Your email is never shown publicly. Passwords are stored by our sign-in service in hashed form.
- Profile: your username, bio and areas of expertise.
- Posts: questions, answers and comments you write.
- Activity: your votes, follows, bookmarks, reports and notifications.
- Attachments: files you upload to questions.
Why
To run the community: to let you sign in, show your posts and profile, count votes and reputation, notify you about answers to questions you follow, and moderate content.
What is public
Your username, bio, areas of expertise, reputation, badges, questions, answers and comments are public. Attachments can only be viewed by signed-in members. Your votes, follows, bookmarks and notifications are private to you.
Deleting your account
Go to Settings > Delete my account. This removes your profile and sign-in details. Your questions, answers and comments are hidden from the community.
Digest and jobs-alert emails
When you subscribe, we store your email address, your email choices (the weekly digest and, if selected, the weekly IFS jobs list), and your signup date. We use these details to send the emails you selected. Subscriber emails and choices are not public, and we never share or sell them.
By subscribing you agree to receive the IFS Wire email(s) you selected. Unsubscribe anytime via the link in each email or by writing to hello@ifswire.com. Community account deletion does not unsubscribe a separate email subscription.
